New ship waste routines
The first of April 2014, a new regulation regarding ship waste will be enforced. New routines make it easier for the ship control to discover rule breakers.
The regulation demands that the ports send the Norwegian Maritime Authorities all waste notification forms, and that suspected irregularities be reported additionally. In order to more easily discover irregularities in the ship’s capacity versus what they deliver, new forms have been made. These forms can be downloaded from www.oslohavn.no/environment/ship waste
Similar changes have been enforced in the entire EU already, and Norway is just catching up. The Port of Oslo’s solutions to meet the demands of this regulation were recently presented at a conference in Greece, where the solution was met with approval and interest.
